Sunday, November 15. 2009The Survey is complete!This weekend we closed the survey. We say a big thankyou to everyone who participated in this. We were very overwhelmed and surprised with the participation and moreover we were very pleased with the positive results and the very nice and kind comments we received. So, we had a very close look at the results and we drew some conclusions from them. 1. Our "Free Gift of the Week" will now get presented in a new way and by changing that we also changed the name. The reason for that is, it is not really a free gift as the words suggest or even more suggestively an exclusive one off design, its more a free "Preview" of one of our new designs that will (99.9% of the time go to sale). We have already changed the look of the gift stand and from now on you will find every week our "Weekly free Preview Design".
2. As you may have already seen, we are starting to change the look of our saleboxes. The new boxes will show what items are in the box and in which layers you will receive the outfits. Changing all the boxes is a really monumental task, so we will be doing the old boxes over time but all new designs will come in the new boxes.
3. Some people commented that the shop is huge and it takes time to find what you are looking for. We can't change the size of the shop, but we placed a shop map with teleporter system around the shop. This will hopefully help you arrive quicker and easier to the section you are looking for.
4. For us, the most difficult feedback point was the copy or transfer discussion. We are known to be a shop that still sells transferable items (There are becoming less and less clothing shops that do so over the time). The survey results did show us that we still have a lot of customers who would like the option for copyable items. A year ago we had a try to accomodate this and we offered copy as well as the transferable items. This meant for us the use of double prims and double workload. The sales of the copy versions were not that remarkable at all so we came to the conclusion to take the copy versions down. This survey has shown us that our customer base has maybe changed over the time so we are currently in the process of working out a good, easy way to offer the copy versions alongside our normal transfer. These changes will not happen before next year with Christmas so close now but in the meantime you all are very welcome to ask us for a copy version and we will be happy to make that happen for you. We hope the above changes will appeal to you and our doors are always open for any further suggestions. We are constantly aiming to improve and better ourself at G&N Quality Design. We feel over time our designs are getting much better which is great considering we entered this business with no real background in Graphic Designing so we are proud to see our designs so well received. Redesigning of course :-) We decided to give our shop a facelift and have given it a new elegant Golden Pearl look complete with a beautiful central staircase. We are also hoping the customers will find the new layout alot more *friendly* with all the formal gowns and Skirts and dresses now upstairs and the Pantsets remaining a feature on our ground floor along with menswear and poses. Steinwerk Sunglasses also remain on the groundfloor. Our free gift and display area have been moved around the corner slightly from where it used to be as have the *new Designs* area. Thursday, May 28. 2009A Blogger with a passionWe wanted to write a little dedication to a wonderful friend from SL. Her name is Mayaka Beck and she is a passionate blogger. She started to blog about our shop not long after we had opened our own main store and to our surprise we started appearing in her blog on a weekly basis. We have had the opportunity to read and be featured in a number of wonderful blogs but Mayaka's blog has shown such dedication to bringing a design to life. The length and detail put into her articles are an enjoyment to read and the support and encouragement shown for our SL business has been exceptional, valuble and cherished. We feel honoured to have met such a lovely, kind lady and to share her friendship. Where has our shop gone????... Well. It's been one year since G&N Quality Design started out and to celebrate we felt it would be nice to have a brand new shop. G&N Quality Design started out with humble beginnings, we rented a little shop in Altstadt and went through our overbulging inventories to sell what we could and didnt want or need anymore. Once that was exhausted we decided to give it a go with our own designing..thus G&N Quality Design was born. The G&N shop most people are familiar with was situated in the sky. No outside scenery or windows :-(... so this is where we thought it would be nice to bring the shop down to our patch of seaside land. It was a little bit of a *unsure* decision as our home was situated there but Georg being the capable builder he is ensured *Us* we could incorporate the shop and our home..somehow :-)
So out came the hammers and tape measures, nails and prims and we set about building our new shop. We needed this to be pleasing to the eye from the outside as well as inside as Pepita is a residential sim so we have tried to give it a homelike look. One other request I had was the beachfront was to be the front entrance and something we could use and enjoy along with our customers, especially as we wouldnt be having an events place like in the sky shop.
I also wanted big windows, this was another reason to move the shop and of course to be able to have the scenery outside viewable. Our *living area* would be the top of the shop..this was another challenge Georg faced because we didnt want this high and looming shop in the middle of a residential sim but he did a wonderful job fitting that all in..
We also know from experience that Georg loves and needs to tinker around with things so there will be a few adjustments and tweaks made to the shop over the coming weeks (am I right honey??? :-)) but what we achieved in a few days we are very proud of..and to celebrate we will be having a Grand Opening on Saturday the 8 November with a one week long 50% off sale. So please, come and join us here in Pepita as we celebrate and look forward to the next part of our journey at Pepita 25, 135, 21 Just look for us relaxing after all our work out at the beachfront :-)
Georg and Nikki xxxx Tuesday, October 14. 2008Modify, Transfer, Copy, transfer, Modify or Copy???The mind is boggled yes? :-) A big discussion in the forums recently left us thinking that our current offering of only Modify Transfer permissions was not enough! It seemed 50/50 were for both so we set to the task of offering the Modify Transfer versions alongside Modify Copy versions. So now all of our designs are available in both versions and at this stage we are about 90% through the shop and already this is starting to prove to be a good move. The remaining 10% of our designs will get finished...ummmmmmm......
When I wake up :-0 T'is a hard life running a shop you know..although my honeypot Georg doesn't seem to think so :-) Nikki xxx Saturday, August 2. 2008Refreshing our shop!Its always nice to keep the shop looking fresh and new. The past week we have spent updating our sellboxes. Georg always enjoys tinkering around the shop (yes he has even been known to suddenly start working in his best clothes) building new things or rearranging...............
.......This sometimes gets me into a state of panic as I am a person who doesnt like too much change :P But its always worth it in the end, and I can usually once again find my way around the shop without too much hassle :-) The enlarging of the sell signs are a really good idea, they look more professional, show more detail so are easier on the eye. Using a nice plain background thats carried through with all the pictures make for a more uniform, uncluttered look and we find having only two rows of pictures in height make such a difference and by placing a large display photo in between every so often to break it up. There really is nothing worse than going into a shop and wondering where to start, seeing just a mass of sell signs scattered randomly all over the place, most people will only leave very quickly. These designs and many more can be found at G&N Quality Design Saturday, July 26. 2008I'm in the mood for..........Realism :-) Lately I have enjoyed bringing some realistic backgrounds to my lovely Ava's pictures. I have had great fun in placing *me* into some imaginative scenes and will now feature these shots around our shop as feature display pics. For example... Today I had a lovely afternoon strolling through a quaint mediterranean market...
Last night Georg took me to dinner to a beautiful restaurant..here I am in the hotel lobby....
This morning I meditated at the heated springs.......
and now I shall go for a drive in my gorgeous Aston Martin :P
It really is never ending what the imagination brings :-) SL can give us that fantasy we desire, but that fantasy can be brought out in so many other ways too. Have fun..and dont forget..take time for... happy days and time out with your loved ones.
In Celebration of our wedding anniversary!July the 21st saw my SL Husband Georg and I celebrate our First Wedding Anniversary. We met in April 2007 and were married in the July of that year. We have had a wonderful time together and are deeply in love both in SL and RL. We hope to unite in RL to seal our love forever. It was only fitting that we did a display themed on this. We have captured our 15 months together (certainly not enough of it) in a video screen placed behind our display which also features some of our wedding items. It certainly brought some wonderful memories back to us as we prepared this. As you might (or might not) know, each week we offer a free gift, designed absolutely brand new or from the shop. Its always worth checking out and Georg puts some wonderful thought and labor into our displays. Of course this weeks free gift was a wedding Dress :-) It makes a lovely formal Ballroom gown without the veil :-)

This display will be up for a few more days as we prepare our next one and the dress is available until Tuesday 30th July. |
